Android not showing voicemail notification

I have seen this on Verizon I see a missed call then open voicemail and it loads them. Sounds like a possible network issue. I had something similar, but it did tell me I had a voicemail after a restart, not sure if it fixed it yet though. I have it. Its on the Select apps when you click on the + inside the folder.
