To rule out/in IWE you can do 1 of 2 things. 1. If you have 4A, leave it in 4A. 2. If you don't have 4A, pull the electrical plug to the solenoid on the drivers side firewall. Both should keep the IWEs engaged. See if the noise reoccurs. If it doesn't, then it has something to do with the IWE system.The grinding noise comes from the 4x4 actuator which I guess is called the IWE.
