In the case of AP CSA last year, I scored a 1 on a practice exam in early March (because the in-class instruction wasn't aligned to the AP curriculum) before hasting up to a 4 in May through self-studying. However, there seems to be a resource desert for AP Literature with only UWorld, past FRQ/MCQ, and the general literary canon existing.
