I'm pretty sure it's because the CT doesn't have the hood-to-windshield gap that most cars have, which allows wiper (s) to park transversely and not be in the airstream. In the absence of that gap and with the need to maximize aerodynamic efficiency, the CT can only park its wiper (s) longitudinally.
