Formerly an all-male university, UF began admitting women students year-round in 1947. The arrival of women on campus ushered in a bevy of Gator beauty pageants, including Miss University of Florida, Mrs. University of Florida and Miss F Club. For decades, nearly all contestants were from UF sororities.
